Grateful for Grandma (and Grandpa)

The thing about Cancer is it is beatable. You see there are several very important components to defeating Cancer:
1.) a great doctor
2.) a positive attitude / faith
and 3). an extremely strong support system.

Lucky for us, we have all three. All of that being said, I want to expand upon component number three and shed the spot light on a woman who is MORE than deserving of a day at the spa for her unyielding support. Enter Grandma Cammy. This woman beat Cancer, Breast Cancer to be exact, so she is more than helpful in the regard that, hey, she's actually experienced Cancer first hand.

But the reason I am talking about Grandma is not to tell you how she is a Cancer survivor. Rather, I want to give this lady kudos because it is the least I can do! She is here every day with exception of Tuesdays and Thursdays. She helps do the laundry (might I add that she folds laundry like a department store executive), the dishes and any other miscellaneous household jobs. She makes us lunch, as well as helps start dinner and then, after all of the help she provides here, she goes home and takes care of her own household!

Grandma Cammy, cane and all, is here by 10AM with a smile on her face. Her only complaint is that we do not have "full of fat creamer" for her coffee. Her vivacious spirit is one of the many reasons that my mom is always smiling. Without Grandma, our days would certainly be far less entertaining and not nearly as joyful.

And while we are on the topic of Pakela's, I want to say that Grandpa is pretty stellar too. His visits are always full of laughter and he is constantly bringing my mom beautiful flowers to enjoy. (Thank goodness mom's gardening skills have improved through this whole bit.)

A strong support system helps, but dang, ours is rock solid.
Thank you, Grandma and Grandpa, from the bottom of my heart.

    Dear Danielle,
We thank you for the kudos. You have such an enjoyable way with words. We are truly enjoying the opportunity to become closer and stronger as a family. She will beat this!!
    Love You, Grandma and Grandpa
P.S. I will bring the heavy duty creamer on Sunday, along with carrot cake for Grandpa's B-day.

    Danielle,
I have been reading your blog and feeling like I've been kept up-to-date on ALL of the goings-on at the Chase house. Love all the updates and please pass along my love to your mother.
I also agree about your Grandma Cammy - wonderful lady and quite an inspiration for beating this cancer monster!
Strength to you and your family!

    Danielle,
I agree that your grandma is a special lady and I did hear your mom brag a little about Grandpa bringing her flowers! That's what Dads are for. Will you please put "full of fat" creamer on the grocery list for your Dad. Us older ladies can't live without our coffee and it's best when you drink it the way you like it! Three cheers for grandma and grandpa!
