Let's just start by saying there is never a dull moment here at the Chase household. Can I also tell you that it will be a massive relief to have Zach's graduation party begin and actually enjoy this rather elaborate festivity?!
Alright so today is Wednesday which means mom is getting chemo. Grandma and Grandpa Pakela drove her this time, which will certainly be great blogging material for tomorrow. This is the first time dad has not gone with mom throughout this entire process and I have to say he seemed a little bit off today, I could certainly tell he misses her. I just got off the telly with mom and she is doing wonderfully, currently en route to the 'Creek (albeit a bit tired).
Mom has not even been gone an entire 24 hours and yet plenty of, ehm, things, have occurred in her absence. For example, our poor little kitten, Lilly, seems to be ill and had to be taken to the vet (no prognosis on what's wrong just yet); although, she does seem to be doing better.
Also, I decided to try and touch up my not-so-blonde roots with a box color. Ah, yes... what a mistake. First go round my hair turned orange- not too classy. Then I discover a hair coloring box (ash blonde) under mom's sink and decide it would be a wonderful idea to dump that color on top of my orange hair. As result, I aged 50+ years and was sporting a silver bob. Again, not quite what I was looking for. By this time it was 3 A.M., but thank goodness for Wally World, which is open 24 hours a day. I jet off to Walmart sporting a hoodie in 80 degree weather. I return home with a platinum blonde highlighting kit. This kit required me to pull my hair through a cap-- I recruit Zach to help me, he passes the duty off to his girlfriend, Amanda. But of course my hair was too fried and nasty to be able to be pulled through the hair coloring cap. As a result I dump the entire blonde highlighting kit on my head. I am now sporting a not so trendy Slim Shady, mac n' cheese, blonde bob with a blistered scalp.
This is what happens when the mother hen leaves- complete pandemonium. My mother would have never let me be so dumb as to attempt to bleach my whole head! (My dad wouldn't either but I waited until he was sound asleep!)
The moral of the story is never dye your hair unsupervised or allow your brothers to be the people in which you consult about just how tacky and brassy your blonde locks look (because they do not even know what they are talking about). All dad had to say about the scenario was, "I still don't know what you dye your hair for."
I finally TRULY appreciate the statement mother knows best. And without her, even for just one day, I've become a mess!

Danielle... this is sooo funny I am literally laughing out loud at my computer screen. I'm sure you still look gorgeous even though your hair sounds "interesting" ... just another lesson that your mama has taught you through all this it is not your hair that makes you beautiful haha. ps the kitty is really cute- what a peanut-- coach
ReplyDeleteSo, do we get pictures? ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a journey you and your family are on and the important part is you are on it together. Love rules. BTW I once dyed my hair Bozo the Clown orange had had a similar errand of shame to buy something to cover it with! And to make it worse I called the Clairol help line and the woman snickered at me when I mentioned Bozo. She made me repeat myself twice so her friends could hear too! And I didn't have a tragedy to blame it on.
